Why rg3 is overrated

How a quarterback really loses his team is by leaving receivers open on the field. The common thread is bad mechanics and a poor sense of timing. Here are some examples from when Griffin returned to action two weeks ago after suffering a dislocated ankle in early September.

To a small degree, his struggles can be attributed to rust. It came on third-and-6, and Griffin never accounted for inside linebacker Mason Foster after he dropped out of a double A-gap look. Foster was spying Griffin not an uncommon tactic in that situation , and he saw Griffin staring down a short slant. Nevertheless, Jay Gruden surely addressed this sloppiness with Griffin on Monday. If he treats Griffin like any other player, the demand to limit the running never happens.

In that alternate universe, I believe Griffin would be in the same conversation with Russell Wilson and Cam Newton — two players who have thrived in option based-offenses that have organically evolved into more traditional schemes.

Griffin was clearly uncomfortable that next year in a more advanced offense. He put up some decent stats but mostly in garbage time. Tension between Shanahan and Snyder over the handling of Griffin ended in a divorce after the season. Griffin had no experience running such a scheme, so even the most basic concepts gave him problems.

Griffin was unplayable in the offense. Gruden knew that and he made it clear in press conferences. He had to justify why he wanted to put Griffin on the bench, and the only way to do that was to let fans know Griffin was ill-equipped to run his offense. Gruden stuck with Griffin as the starter the following offseason, but was quick to promote Kirk Cousins to starter when Griffin left the second preseason game with a concussion. Cousins went on to have a remarkable season and Griffin never played another down in Washington.

The team and franchise had moved on to their new savior. The Redskins were handed this smart, engaging quarterback with limitless athletic potential and spit out an injury-prone, underdeveloped diva. Peru has struggled throughout this …. The Ravens are coming off …. The Ravens come …. North Carolina is coming …. Brazil will look to …. Please enter an email address. Something went wrong. Without that "advantage" he's nothing but another big shot DC showoff.

At least Crosby was somewhat up to the hype and was whored out by the NHL, this Griffin guy whores himself out to anybody with a dollar like he's the next big thing. Andrew Luck, there's a star and a more grounded, classy, humble person.

They took away his bust in the HOF When he doesn't have the read option The guy missed a wide open 13 yard out by yards, at least 4 other wide open receivers in key downs, and runs a 5 yard option keeper that you would think was a Barry Sanders 85 yard TD run.

I have never seen a player this shitty, who gets so much love. Its insanity. The Redskins decided to ride him into the ground as a runner in his rookie season. But RG3 showed in college that's he is plenty good enough to kill you with his arm as the main threat. It will depend on what kind of coaching and offensive scheme RG3 gets to roll with over these next handful of years, but I definitely think he's a good enough passer to develop into a more traditional yet still effective QB.

Lots of missed throws. Last season, he was brutally accurate. The NFL changes from week to week and he was the flavor of the month because the offense was working. But, when I watched the Skins last year, I always noticed how pedestrian their passing game was. For instance, a play they used with great success was the play they used in Wahington last year to finish off us. He had that pass down cold. That team needs to get an identity and stick with it because the QB does not look like he commands the field.

RE: Uh huh In comment Zepp said: Quote: sure whatever you say. Sure, but that's 1 changing the argument and 2 based on a sample size of 1 the Redskins. SF looks a lot worse this year on offense than they did last year too. He looks to have lost some mobility, which forces him to play a different game that of more of a pocket passer. I guess we'll see if he can become a pocket passer.

Is not the Redskins problem. They have a franchise QB. He needs time to grow. Good for us, Snyder will F it up. Griffin does not have the experience under his Great athlete. Not that good at surveying the field and not as accurate when he can't freeze a defense.
